Between the late 1980s and early 2000s, Larval Pellet Syndrome (LBS) was a common disease in shrimp hatcheries in Latin America, characterized by rapid lesions in the hepatopancreas and high mortality. Postlarvae primarily presented with diseases caused by luminescent bacteria. After 2015, outbreaks with high mortality in postlarvae, such as PL-AHPND and TPD, emerged. Controlling Vibrio bacteria is key to preventing these diseases.
