Passive surveillance for shrimp pathogens in Penaeus vannamei submitted from 3 regions of Latin America

Un estudio amplió el análisis de patógenos en camarones mediante múltiples pruebas PCR y exámenes histológicos, evidenciando que un resultado positivo en PCR no siempre indica presencia real de enfermedad. Se detectaron frecuentes coinfecciones con virus como WzSV8 y DHPV, inflamación intestinal crónica y daños compatibles con toxicidad bacteriana (AHPND). También se observaron microsporidios no relacionados con EHP, necrosis muscular y protozoos en el intestino. Estos resultados resaltan la complejidad de las enfermedades en camarón cultivado y la necesidad de combinar técnicas moleculares e histológicas para un diagnóstico más preciso.
